Returning to work at sixty-one
After many years as a full-time carer for my mother, I returned to paid work this year, part-time at a firm of chartered surveyors, and I had nothing suitable to wear. My daughter set me up with this site and I chose the navy set in an XL. It has been a sound purchase. The trousers are cut with a sensible mid-rise, which suits a woman of sixty-one far better than the low styles everywhere at the moment, and the elastic waistband at the back is discreet. The side pockets are deep enough for reading glasses, which I appreciate more than I can say. The blouse has a proper collar and buttons, and looks neat under a cardigan. It is not a luxurious fabric. It is polyester, and I can feel the difference from the cotton blouses I wore in the 1990s, but it washes and dries without complaint. I have since bought the khaki, and I wear the pieces mixed together quite often.

Back after maternity leave
I went back to work in August after a year off with my son and none of my old work trousers did up. I didn't want to spend a fortune on clothes for a body that's still changing, but I also didn't want to turn up on day one in leggings. A friend sent me the link to this set. I bought the navy in a large. The trousers have elastic across the back, which made all the difference, as they sit comfortably without digging into my stomach and still look like proper tailored trousers from the front. The blouse is long enough to tuck in. I've been wearing them separately as well, the trousers with a cream jumper and the blouse with the one pair of jeans that fits. The fabric is polyester and it does feel a bit synthetic, and on the train it gets warm, but I'm expressing at work twice a day so honestly anything that washes easily is a win. It cost more than I'd usually spend. It's earned it.

How do I know which size to order?

Every product page has a Size guide link just under the size buttons, with the exact measurements for that piece. Measure a garment you already own and love, then match it against the chart.

Our fits run true to size. If you are between two sizes, or the piece is structured rather than flowing, we would size up.

Still not sure? Email us the piece and your usual size and we will tell you honestly which to order.

How long will my order take to arrive?

Most US orders arrive within 5 to 8 business days - one business day to pack and dispatch, then 4 to 7 days with the carrier.

Fabric details for each piece are in the Description tab on its product page. We work mainly with linen, linen blends, cotton and chiffon - chosen for how they drape and breathe rather than for cost.

Every piece goes through our SP Quality and Fabric Assurance check before it is listed.

Do you ship outside the United States?

We ship across the US, and to selected international destinations where they appear as an option at checkout. If your country is available, you will see the rate and estimated delivery before you pay.

International orders may be subject to customs duties and import taxes, which are set by your country and are not included in our prices.
