Organizing Tasks with Sloane Stationery Notebooks

When it’s already October, almost November and soon December – it is fair to say we are close to jumping into a new year; 2018 already! I always say this but I really don’t know why time is running so fast. With the end of the year approaching rapidly, I get reminded that I have oh-so-many projects running simultaneously and there are a billion more tasks I want to work on.

It may sound unhealthy, but I prefer a little stress over boredom during the day. I need to constantly be under control of what I am doing, yet always love some deadlines to keep me going and finish up my task just before I get bored of working on something. Now this has less to do with what I do for a living in my job, but is focused more on a personal level. In business I have my tasks, my on-going projects and I have a focus (due to being in a small industry). Personally, however, I tend to be all over the place. I want to try out recipes, work on my healthy lifestyle, get in some exercise regularly, spend as much time with my puppy as possible, work on planning my upcoming travels (business and personal), research for these travels and write down the hot-spots I cannot miss out on, work on my blog in the background, create content on a regular, work on my new study-programme I recently started (will be announced soon), and spend some quality time with my family, friends and close ones so that hopefully no one feels left out.

With all these tasks, and many more I like to focus on or keep in the back of my head for when I have more free time, I still have my OCD moments in wanting it all outlined in the utmost pretty fashion ever. Obviously being addicted and relying on technology, I have everything structured in my agendas on my laptop, iPad and iPhone. I have calendars for StylePhantom, for my studies, for private, family only, and for business. All neatly categorized with different colors. The same goes for writing everything down offline. I grew up with still writing down everything in my agenda. I remember back in lower and middle school, I always wrote down our homework in fancy pen colors. Then had special colors dedicated to writing down when I’d meet what friends for a coffee at Starbucks or working on a class project together, and of course another special, usually glitter pen color for writing down all birthdays.

I still love doing it. I love writing down all birthdays, all travels plans, all to-dos, all blog post content ideas and all other random thoughts in a small little notebook (or two, or three notebooks). Obviously, those need to be fashionable as well. Wanting fresh “starts” every year, I tend to buy a few more every year or even semi-annually. By chance, a friend recommended me Sloane Stationery recently and I fell in love (check.it.out). They are the perfect size for throwing them into the handbag and writing down all thoughts and to-dos when on the go. And also, there is something so satisfying to it when seeing I can cross off a task on a to-do list with a red pen and it is even nicer to flip through a book at the end of the year and see what I have managed to accomplish and what is still outstanding or really was only a rubbish idea.

Spring Inspo

There is nothing greater than waking up to the birds singing their songs outside the window – and likewise; sitting on the balcony in the evening and listening to them sing their songs. It’s that in combination with the sun coming out more days a week than it rains that makes me smile more and more every single day. It’s the little things you finally appreciate again when the grey and cold winter is slowly stepping aside. With it, I always get into the mood of buying more flowers – plants in general – and want to bring some color highlights back into my life and interior. I don’t know what it is with winter and having everything mono-tone, but I am really a seasons person. Now that spring is finally, finally slowly approaching us here in Zurich, I cannot wait to re-decorate my home a little bit. I’ve already been buying flowers on a weekly basis the past couple of months (and got some as presents other times) as you may have noticed on my Snapchat or Instagram. It really brings so much life into a room and brightens up the mood just a bit more. Seeping through Pinterest really made me crave spring and decorating everything at home just that much more. Here are some of the pictures that I find inspiring – clean, a bit colourful, and: fresh! I’ve also been looking at some more inspiration for easter and cute little decorations. I already love the egg & flower combination in the first picture so I am thinking of doing something along the lines of that. Perhaps I’ll share some easter inspiration with you guys soon. Also, my cravings for cakes, little cupcakes and brunches just sky-rocketed when I saw some of these cute easter-recipes. I will surely try out some of these and amend as needed for me to allergy-friendly enjoy those too!

Home Inspo

I’ve been off guard for a while now and I guess I should apologise. It probably also doesn’t help to complain or list the things that are going on right now that are keeping me busy. Yet, I have not forgotten about my readers, nor do I have the intention of stopping any updates anytime soon. Do forgive me though, please, if my updates are not as regular at the moment. Once I have finished my larger projects, and most importantly, finished my masters in a couple of months, I am hoping to dedicate much more of my free time here again.

On another note – I was skimming over Pinterest the other day and fell in love with some of the interior inspired pictures I found. I thought I’d share a few of those with you today to show a sign of life. A combination of these and my own little touch to everything – that would be my dream apartment/home one day. I love pairing the old with the new, having an apartment with that „old“ vibe („Altbauwohnung“), adding new pieces into it, and having a hint of that Scandinavian and Soho Design Interior flowing into the whole thing.

I just absolutely love looking at lifestyle photos and especially at interior stuff. I am even thinking of making my little hobby more realistic and looking into learning more about design on a professional level for the future. Not to stop what I am doing right now; instead – to potentially being able to use my hobby and love for interior (and food – oh jee, now I am starting to get indecisive again) more frequently in the future! What do you think of the inspo photos from Pinterest, any favorites? xo

Must-Have CTBs

C O F F E E. It wakes you up, it keeps you warm and cozy, gives you energy. You’ve got to love coffee. So much for the drink. Even more enjoyable is a cup of coffee (or tea) with the right book on your hands. With Christmas coming around the corner faster than I expected it, I am in need of getting some presents for the family and close friends. Personally, I love gifting what I love myself. This may sound egoistic, but I can’t really give when I am not convinced of it myself. Of course, everyone has their own taste. And most obviously, I will not try and push what I think is best onto other people. Yet, it helps to love the presents, too. The worst, however, is when shopping and suddenly finding a million things that would perfectly work for my own home. Does that ever happen to anyone else? I’ve been looking at a few coffee table books (hence, CTBs) recently and almost ended up shopping for myself again – rather than for others. Anyhow. Here are some coffee table book ideas if you are still looking for a small something to brighten up a loved ones‘ face over the holiday season.

Find book 1 here, book 2 here, book 3 here, book 4 here, and book 5 here.

I already have books 2 and 3 – though surely am looking at getting my hands on the other three, too. I am especially interested in number 5, though also love the photography of Peter Lindbergh. Likewise, Kelly Hoppen has an amazing eye for interior and I understand she gives amazing insights into the industry and how to achieve and make the house of your dreams. Do you have a CTB that you can’t live without?

Coziness in Miami

Good morning! I still have so much content left from my travels from 3 weeks ago. Looking through my phone last night I just found these photos again and searched through their website. Anthropologie is a store I stumbled upon on my little Saturday shopping spree in Miami – and I fell in love. It has this Scandinavian charm to it (and knowing me, you know I love everything from there) and I could have bought the whole store. They have such cute clothing pieces. What really struck me though, is their interior design pieces. There were so many bronze pieces, so many colorful, amazing plates, such great details everywhere – and so much stuff for my kitchen. However, there are some problems: my kitchen isn’t the greatest, my kitchen is already quite filled, my apartment in general isn’t all too empty (I love everything cozy for my home), and my luggage was already more than full. Good thing is, it didn’t kill my wallet. Yet again, I went on their online shop and fell in love, again. What are your favorite pieces? I am in love with the plates and dog-faces on them. And the bronze cups. Oh. Everything, really. Now I need to jump and go to the office though – so I’ll have to get back to this later tonight! xo
