August Tunes

Music is probably one of the most important things in life to me – I just can’t imagine living without it. When speaking fails and the right words just can’t be found, I will always be able to find a song that speaks my story. I’m sure I’m not the only one here, right? Music has this amazing ability to change my mood instantly. Sad songs can easily pull me down. On the bright side of life though, music can instantly brighten up my mood. The right tunes can get me into the partying mood, the snuggle-up-it’s-sunday mood, the fitness mood, can make me smile, relax or give me extra needed energy. I am constantly on the outlook for new music and fill my itunes constantly.

Today I want to share with you some of my current favorites – though that can change on a daily basis. I have no defined style I love listening to, as I listen to almost everything. So here are a few new ones I’ve added to my tunes list in August.

1) Ariane Grande – Best Mistake (feat. Big Sean)

She is only 21 years old, only 1.53m tall and I only really knew here from the song Problem (feat. Iggy Azalea) – but damn that girl has strong voice. I love the song Best Mistake from her My Everything album – and yes, I do love Big Sean, too.

2) Anthony Hamilton – Back to Love

I absolutely love this song – it’s one of those songs that is great played in the background, great for sunday afternoons and has amazing lyrics. Generally, the whole album is great for those that love soul and jazz.

3) Robert Glasper – Afro Blue

This is another one of those amazing songs, which is in my „background music“ folder. It’s just the perfect background and chill-out music. It’s soft and at the same time has enough beats to it to keep it interesting. It’s neither too fast nor too slow. Although I am now presenting you the song Afro Blue, I can really say that I love the whole album – I cannot get enough of it, especially on those lazy sundays.

4) Tinie Tempah – Written in the Stars (feat. Eric Turner)

If you’re into thoughtful lyrics, into fast music, constantly changing genres, rap and are also into the british accent, this is surely something for you. Patrick Chukwuemeka Okogwu, better known as Tinie Tempah, can not only sing/rap super fast, but also has an amzing style. He is one of those artists, were you can gather inspiration not only from his songs but also his closet. Boys, listen up. Girls, get inspired.

5) Labrinth – Beneath Your Beautiful (feat. Emeli Sandé)

Labrinth is one of those artists I did not know about before this August. Some of you might be fully shocked now, as I’m sure he is surely well-known already. If for any reason you do not know this song yet, please listen and give it a chance. It carries so much emotion, so much soul and so much truth. Emeli Sandé does an amazing job in this song, as well – together it’s surely a piece of art.

Amazing beats in combination with a great voice is also found in the song Let it Be.

Although Labrinth has many amazing songs filled with great, emotional lyrics, many migh know him through the song Earthquake, which has hit quite amazingly, as well. I absolutely love and can fully get lost in the beats that are portrayed in this song. This song has managed to combine electro, vocals, soul and partly house, amazingly – big vows here!

My World of Magazines

Two weekends ago I was in Hamburg and upon buying some necessities, which are cheaper in Germany than Zurich, I couldn’t resist but buy a load full of magazines at the airport. I love diving into my perfect little bubble, which I call my world of magazines. I can spend ours flipping through the pages, looking at the pictures and then taking the next one. After I flipped through all of them, I start going to the first magazine to actually read some of the articles. I used to read so much more magazines, though nowadays barely do I have the time for it. I could, I guess, read before going to bed. Though  most of the evening, after work, I love doing absolutely nothing – and I mean nothing. I can stare at a wall for 1 hour and relax, calm down and enjoy the quiet peaceful moment. Weird, I know.

These magazines are actually a perfect example of it, I have bought these two weeks ago and at most, I have gone through 3 of them fully. The good thing about it though, they last – so long! I used to read them all at once and then was annoyed for having to wait a whole month for the next ones to come out (for most magazines). Now it’s perfect – after about 4 weeks I have read most of them, or hopefully all, and can buy the next stack. The only one missing here is the Vogue – though – my mother has taken on a subscription on it, for me. Thank you!

Which is your favorite, must have and fully read-through magazine?

Power Breakfast & Vogue

Good morning everyone! I hope you had a fantastic week so far and a wonderful sunday to end it! Sundays are my lazy days: literally, I do nothing really other than read my magazines, play around with some photography (I really need to practice my skills), cook, sometimes bake, and read. Today I will most likely do exactly that, paired with some tanning in the sun – the weather in Zurich is great currently – and catching up with some friends over the phone in Germany.

To start my lazy sunday I love having power breakfasts. Power, because I actually take time to make them, try to have them rich on vitamins and minerals and of course it should be yummy. Today I chose scrambled egg whites with red peppers added previously, some red peppers raw on the side and a large glass of my green juice. The juice was way too much, I made about one litre, so I will just sip on that during the day as well.

My bible for the day: the Vogue. It’s a cliché, I know. It’s always amazing to get some inspiration out of it and read the articles. Otherwise, I love reading my InStyle, Harpers Bazaar, and some other magazines I find during the week. This year my mother actually gave me the Vogue as a present. I get it every month for free now – yes, I’m a lucky girl. Here’s to say: Thank you Mama!

Do you also do lazy sundays or are they packed with activities? I’d love to hear all about it. Have a great lazy sunday, everyone!

The NEW StylePhantom

I am finally back – and with me I took: StylePhantom! Some of you might already know my old blog. Due to not knowing whether I should continue my blog nor really liking the design of it, I went offline for quite a while. The past few months have been filled with new, exciting things though: I travelled, I took on a new job, I moved city and country and looked deeper into what I really want. So here it is:

I missed writing, I missed sharing my life (to a healthy extend) on StylePhantom, missed StylePhantom itself, missed my readers and missed having that certain „free-time“ in my life, which enabled me to fully let go of everything around me. So, here I am, super excited to share with you parts of my life. Now living in Zurich and having a new surrounding, has given me the opportunity to take a new view upon situations, products, places and decisions – some of which I am really looking forward to sharing with you!

To be fully honest, I wanted to start the blog a little earlier again. However: Moving, changing jobs, travelling and getting settled has really taken lots of my energy in the past. Most likely I will not be able to post on a daily basis in the future either, though I will try my best to keep a healthy routing: for you and myself.

For now: I hope you will enjoy reading future blogs, as much as I love flipping through my magazines and blogs (call me a lifestyle-junkie, seriously)!
