Route Natural

Happy Sunday my lovely readers – & Happy International Women’s Day! I hope you’ve had a wonderful weekend so far – I surely did! I drove to Düsseldorf (Germany) on Friday afternoon to visit the family and have been doing so ever since. Yesterday was pretty relaxed – I went to the hairdresser and we enjoyed the evening at home. Today we spent the whole day in Maastricht (Netherlands), which was absolutely incredible. The weather is amazing – it feels just like spring! Back to my hair now – I am slowly but surely hitting the Route to Natural. I normally always add more highlights or at least get these freshened up. This time round I actually colored my roots much darker than the blonde I am used to – it’s quite close to my natural hair color. I was shocked to be honest. I knew my hair color was quite dark, but this dark? I fell out of my blonde heaven once I saw it and I am still only, slowly getting used to it. I surely love the color, and I love the fact that it’s got the ombre effect – I was able to keep my blonde on the bottom. However, as much as I like it, I still feel awkward and just not like myself when I look into the mirror.. Let’s see if I get used to it!

In regards to the actual coloring – I love my hairdresser here in Düsseldorf. She does an amazing job with whatever I request from her. Be it dark, going towards natural or all the way blonde because I cannot do without it. I am sure she will have to help me go blonde again at some point – I am just such a blonde-love. However, for now I will try to get used to it and actually keep it for a while. It’s just better for my hair if I give it some time to regrow and not bleach it on a constant.

What do you think about the darker hair?

My hairdresser is called Aspasia – she is absolutely great at what she does! You can ask for an appointment with her at the hairdresser Andreas Kohlhoff by calling 0211 8632007 (Germany).

Oh – and sorry for the iPhone quality only, it’s the only camera I had at hand :-). Wishing you all a great start into the week tomorrow! xo

ps. I don’t quite know why my photos are shown turned-around on some devices – will need to get that one fixed!

Sparkling Swarovski

Happy February! It’s the month of love and Valentine’s day is coming up! How exciting! I already got a portion of love this past weekend from my best friend. Technically, I guess I could say it daily – I have a couple of besties in my life and I swear I couldn’t imagine it without them. I am so grateful for all the memories, for all the fun times I was able to share with them, for all their time they give me when I just need to let some of my worries out, the countable times when I just need someone to be next to me or when I need to tell someone about my broken heart. They are there for me no matter what – it’s like family. Simultaneoulsy, I try to give those things back and am thankful for everyday I have them in my life.

This past weekend I saw one of my best friends again, Virginia, for coffee in Zurich. She is the one I am planning my upcoming vacation with in March and I am uber excited about it! What I didn’t expect is the present I got from her. It’s actually my birthday present from November, which she has been keeping for a while now because we somehow haven’t managed to see each other as often as we would have liked in the past weeks. She lives in Geneva so I only see her from time to time – everytime being special. She is one of those friends you can gossip about anything with, laugh at the weirdest jokes with and one that will listen to me when I have all sorts of unimportant ‚girl problems‘ in life.

I love wearing earrings – I need a pair on a daily basis. I actually don’t switch around all too much with earrings, as I want them to be elegant, yet classy enough to wear at work. Therefore, big, great fashionable earrings don’t really work whilst on business. These earrings however are perfect for wearing everyday. I love how they have gold on them, which fits my rings and watch just perfectly. I actually made a couple of shots of me wearing these on Sunday, so I will be sharing them with you this week as well.

As for now, I wish you all a great start into the new week, the new month and lots and lots of love! xo

Beauty Talk : Beach Tan

Happy Friday everyone! I found this webcam image on my computer and thought I’d share it with you. I get a lot of questions from people (also when out shopping), if I was on vacation. In fact, I wasn’t – however, I was in a 2min tan-shower and I believe the price is so worth it. I started the spray-tan late last year, first time round in November I believe it was. I absolutely love it now. The photo is from one of my first times – so actually I’m not even quite that tanned anymore, as I chose a slightly lighter shade to make it look more natural. I remember in the beginning I wasn’t all too sure and was much darker – it really didn’t fit my natural skin tone, nor my hair color. This photo is actually not all too correct – the lightning isn’t natural and my tan looks darker than it usually is. I’ll share another tanned one with you soon, though!

I’m usually the white bread between everyone else – literally, I am so pale in winter. This way I look much healthier and well, just like I came back from holiday. The best thing, I almost feel like I just had a short holiday when I come back from my spray tanning session. I do it around about every 10 days, sometimes stay pale in between though. So far I’ve done it in Kaarst (Germany) once but generally I go BeautySpace right near the main station in Zurich. It’s the most practical when I finish work – I jump into my short shower and then head back home.

Before trying spray-tan the first time I highly recommend you to read the before & after instructions. A good peeling the day before is a must and you shouldn’t use any perfume or body lotions on the day of the spray. So far I have only tried out the clear-spray, meaning the tan slowly comes after 6-8 hours. I usually just put on a bathrobe at home (don’t wear satin or do anything to make you sweat!) and lie down. It’s my lazy evening of the week – it’s great! Upon awakening I am a new me – a tanned me. I always feel so much more relaxed all of the sudden.

Not only does it look pretty: it feels pretty. Can something even feel pretty? What I’m trying to say is that the spray-tan literally hydrates the skin. Since I want the tan to hold as long as possible I tend to cream my body much more the days after, which gives even more hydration to the skin. A must-do when it’s cold outside and the skin is longing for some water re-fills. Secondly, I barely need any make-up. The make-up I usually wore in winter (foundation and whatnot) was basically to cover up the paleness – not needed anymore! All I need is my mascara, some bronze powder and/or rouge and voila, I’m done within 10 minutes in the morning. Which is amazing, since I also love sleeping in as long as possible.

a seasons change

It’s almost already officially autumn again! It’s incredible how fast time passes, or am I just getting old by now haha? Tomorrow is the official calendar start for autumn (at least in Switzerland). By now you can really tell as well, as almost all leafs have either turned orange and brown or already fallen off. And oh my, it’s getting really cold now too! I’ve taken out my winter coat already and will get the rest out tomorrow.

As much as I love those winter wonderlands, I’m already looking forward to having summer back. Winter is amazing up in the alps, which are already getting ready for opening all the ski slopes now. But here in the city everything is just turning grey and dark. It rains a lot and the color seem to be washed out with it. Time for wearing my red lips again more often!

I love adding some color to my lips and nails when everything else seems to drown in grey. What’s you’re preferred makeup look for these cold days?

Hope you’re all enjoying you’re weekend!
