Hey guys! On a short notice, I just wanted to give you all a heads-up and small hint on a bloggers-event that will be held at Scandinavia Hair tomorrow here in Zurich. Isabella Löwengrip is one of the biggest bloggers in Scandinavia, has a huge fanbase, and approximately 1.5 million (yep, read that right!) readers weekly. The event will concentrate on blog talks and the product line LLC.

Thoughts on Easter Monday

Happy Sunday Monday, guys! I love having the day off, not only giving me the sunday-blues today, but also knowing that the week ahead is a hint shorter. The past week has been filled with ups and downs, and I want to apologize for the lack of content. Not only was I busy (as always, I know), but I honestly am lacking motivation and inspiration on all ends at the moment. Luckily, Easter came around and gave us all a long weekend – one for me to finally breathe a little – which I spent with my bestie (& her family). I even went on an egg-hunt yesterday! As much as it might be an activity for little kids, I absolutely loved it and – quite honestly – I’ve missed it. So it will defintely be on my list again next Easter – egg-hunting for life! Otherwise, I will be working on my to-do list all day, crossing off everything from working out, cleaning, writing assignment(s) for my studies, to actually flipping through magazines, blogs, pinterest and instagram to get my inspiration going again!

Your Skin Needs Routine

Happy Friday guys! Another week is almost done – and, I’ll be honest – I cannot wait to (hopefully) sleep in this weekend. I’ve been getting up at 6am every morning this week. This may sound normal and regular to many of you, but is a nightmare in itself for me. I love sleeping in, and I love staying in bed as long as possible. Although I usually get up at 7am as well on work days, that one hour earlier really hit me. Then again, the day suddenly seems a little longer and that morning workout that can be squeezed in before the first meeting gives me that extra boost that I desperately needed after the past weeks travel.

Traveling to New York the first time really was a small dream come true. Although packed with meetings and conferences during the week, it gave me a chance to experience the city over the weekend. If there is one thing to complain about that I really noticed, however, was the heavy (almost dirty?) air. After flying back to Zurich, the air suddenly felt like a spa-retreat for my skin here. Every day we run errands, jump into cars, public transports, use make-up (or at least us females do), and clog up our pores one way or the other. Our faces are never protected, always out there and way too often – our skin in general – being neglected. One of my personal goals, or better – life changes – I am trying to implement and get a routine on is the protecting of my skin. I admit it: I love sunbathing, love having a little tan, often enough did not wear sun cream or only those with the lowest SPF factor available, and go swimming from time to time (dries out the skin immensely). Next to drinking lots of water (duh), I now slowly but surely found a routine for taking more care of my skin overall with different lotions and creams. Looking tan is still important, no doubt, but I want to make sure to look as fresh healthy as possible even when I’m hitting the later years in life!

For those of you that know me, know that I love trying out new products on a constant. I am way too easily entertained and convinced by commercials and always have the feeling I need to test everything out by myself. So to say, yes, commercials often enough with the fight. If there are certain factors that make a product especially desirable, such as the texture, after effect feeling or smell, I won’t let the chance of trying it pass by me.

Personally, I love the scent the skoah creams have – my product of the golden hour -, how my skin feels immediately hydrated and stays that way all day. My favorite is probably the sweet love body kream, which holds a scent of cinnamon and vanilla, giving me an instant comforting feel (you know it – when all you want to do is sink into your sofa with a hot cup of tea and play some music in the background). I’ve had the pleasure to also try out dewlux face kream lite, which as I was told, can also be worn on your hands – the one body part that really tells your age and most people neglect. The eye kream is a wonder by itself, feels refreshing (awakening?) and moisturizing. Oh, and then of course there is the packaging. I know, I know… the packaging is not everything. But honestly? It’s part of my interior if placed on my sideboard in my bedroom, and if there is one thing I love, it’s anything pretty, clean, and minimalistic.

Unfortunately, it’s time to go back to reality; Friday is about to start (at the office) and I still need to indulge in my breakfast. Having said that, I wish you all a wonderful Friday and start into the weekend! xo

New York, New York

Happy Sunday loves! Although it’s way past midnight Zurich time, in which I usually find time to write, it’s only 8.30pm here in New York. Yes, you might have guessed from the title that I am talking about the Big Apple; the city that never sleeps. It’s been an utmost amazing, yet exhausting week for me. Monday morning I took the flight to NYC, arriving in the late afternoon and finding myself a little lost when getting out of the express bus from the airport. This was my first trip to the Big Apple, surely, though, not my last. The city has amazed me, has taken my breath away and I am still dazzled whilst writing this here in the Lufthansa Lounge at the airport (thanks daddy, for having the status). The trip wasn’t all fun, though. Yes, it surely was fun, but not fun as in city sight-seeing and shopping-till-you-drop kind of fun. I came for a business trip, one that surely has opened my eyes a little further. I surely love my work, the opportunities it offers and how it constantly challenges me to further deepen my knowledge.

But enough of the business talk. I am most utterly sure that everyone immediately knew I was a tourist. Although I can (proudly) say that I have quite an american accent – with no german accent coming through – I was most lively noticed with either my camera or iphone camera being out at all times, trying to capture all important buildings and moments. Having rather lived in smaller cities, I am not used to all these skyscrapers – which was, quite frankly, a problem. How do you fit so much scenery into one photo by itself? You don’t. It’s a simple as that. Instead, I tried using the architectural giants as guidelines to creating some images with different perspectives, trying to capture the heights, sizes, widths, the depths, the reflecting windows, even the dark alleys. My phone storage is bursting full due to the photos I took, and I don’t want to load them all onto you at once – at least, not just yet. Instead, I will try and fit in some NYC memories I took with me from time to time.

I’ll now concentrate on some more emails, which I want to catch up on before the new week begins. Oh, and enjoy that glass white wine, which was just served to me with the most welcoming smile here yet. As I’ll be in the plane over night, not landing until Monday noon (Zurich time), I wish you already the most wonderful start to the new week! xo

Meatballs filled with Avocado

March 9 – this coming Wednesday is officially the (US) national meatball day! What better way then to celebrate this day with a new recipes for meatballs? I’ve thought about going vegan once or twice, quite frankly, I was a vegetarian for almost 4 years of my life (note, that I simply did not like the taste – typical teenage-syndrom everyone goes through I guess). When looking back at it, and despite the reoccuring veganism trend I see ever so often, I currently cannot imagine my life without meat. It just tastes too damn good, and really, it’s just super filling. Never saying never, who knows, I might end up at that stage again one day. For now, however, I want to share this party-perfect recipe for you. This meatball recipe is super simple to make, again contains neither lactose nor gluten, can be easily served as a party-snack or combined to make a lovely meal. This recipe makes 10-12 meatballs, which might not sound like much, but beware, they really are filling (even my dad – hence, a man with good appetite – said so).

What you need
330g minced beef*
1 medium sized egg*
1 medium onion* 
2 teaspoons paprika (powder)
1 teaspoon sea-salt (I use lavender sea salt)
1 teaspoon dried basil teaspoon
½ a medium sized avocado
1 tablespoon of olive oil

*(though it won’t matter if a little more or less)

What to do
1) peel the onion and chop it into small cubes (I use a cutting-mixer)
2) place the minced beef, cut onion, egg, paprika, sea-salt and basil into a large bowl and mix it thoroughly with a fork (or using your hands) until everything is well mashed-up
3) peel the avocado and cut half in little cubes (approx. 1 x 1 cm sized)
4) depending on how fast your stove is, heat up 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large pan (or make this step later if you have a gas-stove or something similar fast)
5) using your hands, place about 2 tablespoons of the beef-mixture in your hand, place a piece of avocado in the middle, and roll the meat around until you’ve reached a golf-ball sized meatball (if needed, add a little more meat – simply make sure the avocado doesn’t peak out anywhere)
6) repeat step 5 until you have used up all of the minced beef mixture – I usually end up with 10-12 meatballs
7) once all meatballs are finished, carefully place them in the pre-heated pan
8) make sure to pan/fry the meatballs from each side, for about 2 minutes, which should be enough for the meatballs to be well-done yet not dry – if you’re unsure, after about 12-15 minutes, simply take one out and cut it in half

Now you can
1) have them immediately whilst warm
2) indulge them with a spicy tomato sauce
3) serve them in a bowl for your guests to snack on whilst gossiping away over which actress wore the best dress at the golden globes 

What do you think of the recipe? I’m already thinking a little further and thinking with what else I could fill these meat-balls, any ideas? For cheese lovers (and myself absolutely not being one), I could imagine that a piece of molten cheese inside doesn’t sound bad either.
