Cyprus; Paphos

Happy Humpday! Already mid-week and I can’t believe how fast the week has gone by so far. I only arrived Sunday home so I’ve been doing washings from vacation and the visitors we had before all week so far. Well, the days that I’ve actually had time. I’ve had meetings and conferences this week, was at a networking event last night and see friends afterwards (the joy of having no studies!). Tonight I’m actually out again for dinner with my bestie here in Zurich before she leaves to a few days of vacation – though the next days I’ve planned to stay in and actually cook once again. I actually have not cooked since 3 weeks now – horrible!

The biggest challenge this week however, was the weather. It is unbelievably cold – or so it feels. I’ve had to take out my winter jacket already and I’m frustrated just knowing I’ll be freezing when the actual winter and snow comes along. So I’ve been looking through a few photos of Cyprus again last night in bed and decided to share some more with you. Here is a lovely small beach we found, and a wreck we saw from further away we had to take a closer look at. It’s pretty cool to actually know it’s only been there since around 2011 (I think it was) – which means its quite new! There are quite a few wrecks around and near Cyprus, so this isn’t the only one we saw.

The weather there was amazing – I am still dwelling in bikini-thoughts and looking forward to my next journey into a warmer country. Let’s see when and where that will be! Now I’ve got to get ready soon for dinner – sushi; so good. Wishing you a great continuing week! xo

All Black Errthang

Can you guess my favorite color? I know it’s nothing new and nothing majorly creative, but black is the one color that goes with seriously everything, works with (almost) every event and can be worn at any time of the day. I can’t believe I’m actually looking through online shops for autumn and winter clothes whilst lying around in a bikini everyday here in Cyprus. Yep, I’m still on vacation and I won’t deny it – I absolutely love this weather, and my tan is getting on quite well. I am cringing at the fact however, that I will arrive back in Zurich Sunday evening in almost freezing temperatures. Where has the summer gone all so fast? I’m really not ready for snow – and I’ve seen some of my friends post snow pictures already higher up in the mountains. Cringe. Seriously cringe. It isn’t even November yet!

However, here’s to something better – I found some great stuff online. Some, of which I will share with you here on Polyvore. I love black jeans, and although I might already have the one or other pair, I am a true believer of never having enough jeans. Quite frankly, I do sort and throw some out every other season when they are worn down and the fit isn’t as great anymore. I love these ones with ripped knees from topshop for aound 50$ only! In fact, all of the clothes – except the lovely gold accessories – are below 100$ each.

I used to not love turtle necks whatsoever. This season, for some reason, they totally hooked me. This one is perfect and you even get a 10% discount on your first order – screams for a fuller basket! These shoes are perfect for autumn, go with everything due to the color, and look super comfortable due to the slightly thicker heel. I just bought a similar pair already, which is the perfect fit for business as well as casual looks. I love buying clothes that I can not only wear in my free time, but also greatly combine during the week in the office or even when I have meetings. This coat is also perfect – it’s got the slight edgy feeling to it due to the leather, yet is sleek enough to wear over a blazer when off to the office. To finish the look and keep myself from freezing I love wearing scarves in autumn and winter. I’m really digging those thick knit pieces currently, so this one perfectly satisfies my taste.

Last, surely not least though, I love pepping up any outfit with some accessories. Especially black can quickly look dull or depressing if worn with no accessories at all – or even worse – without the right attitude. Attitude seriously is everything when it comes to fashion. You can pull off almost anything if you lift your chin in the right direction and throw out a bright-white smile once in a while. Match that with red lips and you’ve easily transformed the outfit for the evening. This Chanel bag has been on my wish-list for way too long. So I’ve finally decided to get one for myself – maybe already for Christmas. This one is actually a secondhand item, only worn once, yet from the price already much easier on the wallet than straight from the store. I’ll be searching a little more for the best one, though will most likely go for a secondhand one as well. The bracelet and earrings are pieces that will always work, every season, every year, for every occasion. Secondhand versions, for those that don’t want to, or can’t, burn a hole into their wallet can be found here and here. I personally love buying secondhand pieces if possible.

Now I’m off to dinner with the family! It’s BBQ night tonight, which means there will be lots and lots of fresh fish and meat from the grill – I’ll surely have problems again choosing what to take. With that, I wish you a great evening and rest of the week. xo

Paphos – Cyprus

Happy Sunday! I can finally relax – finally forget about work, uni and all the other stress that has kept me up at night the past weeks. Today we (mom, dad & sis) finally arrived in Cyprus – Paphos (city) – at the Elysium hotel. It’s breathtaking, let me tell you that. We arrived in the afternoon and immediately got served with lovely welcome drinks at the hotel’s terrace. After slowly unpacking and changing into summer clothes, we went out to the beach to discover some of the surrounding area. I must say that the beach really isn’t the highlight so far – it’s a public beach more or less and not the prettiest I’ve seen. Yet, we haven’t seen it all and there might be more on the other side (only walked one direction today). The hotel itself, and the large pools however, are amazing. It’s got everything you need, from a pool bar – even in the water – to whirlpools, amazing restaurants, a great gym, spa area, beauty salon and lots more. Tomorrow morning I’ll test out the gym first thing, then have a great breakfast (love my breakfasts!), and then start my tanning session. This week is all about relaxing, sleeping lots, getting back my energy that has been lacking lately, detoxing myself from the rather ‚polluted‘ city air and obviously getting that tan on. Those of you that know me, know that I always give 100 percent in regards to anything I touch. I don’t like my projects left unfinished and I don’t accept a satisfactory outcome either. The same goes with vacation now. In the past years I’ve learned to totally let go. As much as I love those city tours, love my activities such as diving or cruising around to discover the area – I’ve also learned to completely let go. To listen to good music, to lie at the pool or beach for hours, to simply switch off my mind. Quite frankly, I think it’s life changing and super important to also be able to let go off things fully – let your thoughts wander and see where it takes you – seriously, just day-dream. And treat yourself! I’ll surely check out the spa area these days, I’ve promised myself at least one massage and most importantly – indulging on good food.

Tonight the dinner theme was traditional Cyprus food – and let me tell you, the seafood-salad was to die for. I had to get a second serving, no chance of passing it. We have breakfast and dinner included the whole week so we basically don’t have to leave the hotel if we wanted to. Lunch is normally not needed in these hot areas (or so we think), however there are lots of bars and restaurants at the hotel to get snacks in between if needed. The great thing is that they have a different dinner theme everyday. Tomorrow they will have an Asian theme – so I am looking forward to that! We might also skip a dinner or more in the next days and go down to the harbor for fresh seafood right from the ocean – and surely for a small lunch snack here and there.

I’ll make sure to take some more pictures in the upcoming days and update you accordingly – though you can always get fast and live updates via my snapchat: LauraNanette. Till then, I wish you a great Monday tomorrow morning and hope you enjoyed your weekend! xo

Morning Routines

Good morning and happy Monday guys! It’s a new week and one that is absolutely full on my side. My agenda is about to burst – no kidding. I have my final course week at uni (means lots of papers to hand in), have guests arriving tomorrow, meetings almost daily, dinners almost daily and Friday I am off to Düsseldorf and then – vacation on Sunday for one week! It really makes this week a lot easier knowing I can relax more next week.

Remember when I told you about Vivi Beauty on one of my last posts? Well, I was fortunate enough to meet the team behind this beauty empire and am allowed to test both their Vivi Lash’N’Brows Single and FORTE Single product. Forte, as the word already states, is the higher concentrated product for faster growth of the lashes. Well, XXL lashes, here I come!

As you might know I’ve had eyelash extensions this whole summer, and truth is, I loved it. The only negative side to it, is that you literally get addicted to these fuller lashes and in the end I could’ve gone every week to re-fill those lashes that fell out. This wasn’t very easy on my agenda nor on my wallte, so as heartbroken as it felt I took them off and decided to try ’normal‘ mascara again for a while. I still wear fake lashes from time to time on the weekend when going out though (those to glue on and take off again), as I love having that great lash-effect. When you take out those extensions, your natural lashes seem short and feel nonexistent. It’s seriously depressing the first day. So this lash serum from Vivi Beauty came with perfect timing. I’ve been using it now for a good week and will update you on how things go in a couple of weeks.

The great thing about these serums is that you can put it on at night before going to sleep, or like myself, wear it on top of the mascara. I seem to forget almost every night so I’ve changed my routine to the morning with this product. So far I’ve been pretty good with using the normal product, though I haven’t used the Forte one just yet on a regular basis. Now it’s time to cross fingers and hope that my lashes explode (in a growing, positive way)! xo

BW&G Basics

Black, white and grey – there’s seriously no easier combination when it comes to clothes. I love polyore for making these collages – and for finding some amazing deals online.

With fall having arrived, it’s time to unpack those thicker cardigans, those ponchos, hats and scarfs. Alright, the hat might not yet be needed – but honestly, how cool is it? And there is probably no easier way to hide a messy-hair-day. This hat is my next buy for sure.

This grey cardigan/light jacket is amazing and under $50. For it not even being on sale, it really is an amazing catch.

I’m really in need for some new biker boots, as my old Zara ones just don’t do it anymore and honestly, I’ve fallen in love with this pair from Moschino. What’s your opinion on it?

This tshirt is an absolute eyecatcher and gives all others an easy way to approaching you – there’s no cooler way of starting a conversation over a unicorn. Seriously.

These frends headphones are already in my collection and a go-to item when on the road. I couldn’t live without music and especially for those long fall walks I love having some music ring in my ears. Only need to be careful to not sing out loud with my favorite songs. :)

Leatherpants are a must-have in every closet, every year. You can wear them all the time, to almost all occasions (seriously, I’ve worn them in business before). They are warmer then jeans so it’s really my first grab in the morning when temperatures drop. These ones are a perfect fit.

I’m still looking for the perfect black scarf, and this one really caught my eyes. Surely a cheaper version though, as I’m still not convinced on the price for such an accessorie. Any opinions?

As much as I am complaining about the cold, I cannot wait to wear some of my thicker autumn and winter clothes – there’s just so much to combine! I’m throwing out quite a bit again to make more space for new shopping purchases. Cant wait for the next shopping runs!

I’ll surely keep you up to date on my purchases. Till then, I wish you a great continuing week. xo
